It’s been 4 nearly weeks since my concussion. Since then I’ve done basically no activity. My belly’s a little rounder, my booty’s a little smaller, my arms are a little softer.
Now that I’m better, I’m eager to get into the gym and whip my ass back into shape.
What I'm actually going to do is meet myself where I’m at, keep a light heart, listen to my body, ease in gently. I’m not stressing over a few pounds of belly fat or the fact that deadlifting 120# felt hard AF. Life is not a forward march of steady linear progress. We go up and down and up again. I enjoy the process at both ends.
Those of you planning to embark on a new fitness routine in the new year, I commend you. I also encourage you to follow my lead: meet yourself where you’re at, be lighthearted, listen to your body, ease into it. Making changes and creating new habits takes time. You’ll go up. You’ll go down. Take it in stride. Be good to yourself. Keep moving.
