My Training Approach:


BEGIN WHERE THE CLIENT IS. I will meet you where you are, without arbitrary preconceived notions about where you should be or what you should do.

COLLABORATION. We will work together with curiosity, intelligence and light-hearted dedication to help you become stronger, healthier, more graceful and generally more present in your body.

I DON'T CARE HOW YOUR BODY LOOKS. I care about how you feel about your body. I don't care if your body fits into the current, arbitrary cultural ideal. I care about how your body performs and functions. I am not interested in weight loss simply for the sake of weight loss. This doesn't mean that I can't or won't help you to become the best-looking, strongest version of yourself. But it does means that I know that as a culture we have a very perverted and narrow idea of what healthy bodies look like. I honor that bodies of many shapes and sizes can be healthy and attractive and I know that there are many ways to be physically fit. I am interested in helping you find movement that you love and create habits to cultivate and sustain a vibrant, truly fulfilling life.

WIDE-ANGLE LENS. Instead of looking for quick fixes or obsessing over short-term goals, I will encourage you to take the long view, to develop patient persistence, to imagine yourself at 95 living a dynamic, independent life, with a capable body that can easily do all the things you love to do.

TENDER. I will also encourage you to be patient as you work to break habits that do not serve you. I will encourage you to cultivate genuine self-love. Change take takes time and compassion.

TOUGH LOVE. My gentle approach does not mean that I won't challenge you to take radical responsibility for your actions as they relate to your health and fitness goals. I will ask you to do things that you think you cannot do. You will push back. I will keep the dialogue going. You are stronger than you think you are, you can do more than you think you can. I will do everything within my power to help you see this.

I AM YOUR BROKEN-RECORD DRUMB BEAT. The only silver bullet is this: Do. The. Work. But you already know this. Even so, I will remind you again and again of the basics. Do the work. Day after day. Perform the basic movements with beautiful technique. Feel your feet on the earth. Breathe. There is no silver bullet. Do the work. Repeat.

HOLISTIC AND COMPREHENSIVE. We cannot address your health and fitness goals without addressing your nutrition, stress, sleep, mindset and spiritual perspective. Fitness does not happen in a vacuum. I will help you find ways to incorporate movement into your daily life. I will teach you to deadlift like a champ. I will encourage you to drink less alcohol and eat more vegetables. I will teach you meditations to help you relax before sleep. I will ask you about the meaning of life.

FUN. My sessions are part art, part science. I have a pin-pointed eye for detail and a strong intuition. I will use both during our time together. Our sessions will involve any combination of breath work, good old-fashioned strength training, metabolic conditioning, corrective exercise, natural movement and yoga asana. No two client meetings are alike.
